Q + A
a few things people often want to know before booking, starting something new, or deciding what feels right for them.
booking + appointments
-
don’t stress about choosing perfectly. new clients receive a consultation form after booking so I can better understand hair goals, concerns, history, and what may realistically be needed for your appointment. if I feel like we need to adjust timing, services, or talk through a better option together, I’ll always reach out beforehand so we can figure it out together.
-
depending on the service, you may receive a consultation form so I can get a better understanding of your hair, scalp, goals, lifestyle, or any concerns you may be experiencing before your appointment. this helps me prepare more intentionally for your visit and make any adjustments beforehand.
-
if you can’t find a time that works, you’re always welcome to join the waitlist through online booking. cancellations and schedule changes do happen, and I also occasionally open additional availability during the week when I’m able to accommodate more guests. if something becomes available that feels like a good fit, I’ll always do my best to reach out.
-
yes. some services, especially extensions, integration, scalp concerns, or larger color changes, may require a consultation beforehand so we can talk through your goals, concerns, and what feels realistic for your hair and lifestyle. sometimes things can be handled through a consultation form and appointment selection, and other times it’s helpful to sit down together first so you don’t have to make those decisions on your own.

what to expect during your appointment
-
absolutely!
please don’t feel awkward at all if you need to work during your appointment, answer emails, take a meeting, or stay available throughout the day. and honestly, if you just want to doom scroll on your phone, zone out, watch funny pet videos on the tv, or catch up on your latest netflix show, that’s perfectly fine too. there’s never pressure to constantly make conversation unless you actually feel like it. I’m happy to let the appointment feel however you need it to feel that day while I continue doing my thing. real life doesn’t always pause for self-care appointments, and sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do to make good hair happen… I get it.
-
yes, that’s totally fine. most people honestly come alone and enjoy using their appointment as time to unwind for themselves, but I completely understand that sometimes someone may need to come along for support, company, or because you already have plans afterward.
the studio is a more private, one-on-one space, but I want you to feel comfortable while you’re here, whether that’s just us or you bring someone along.
scalp therapy
-
that’s completely okay. most people don’t. the foundational scalp therapy session is designed to help us take a closer look at what may be contributing to what’s going on so we can approach your scalp in a more intentional and supportive way together.
-
sensitive scalps are actually one of the main reasons these services are approached more intentionally. not every scalp benefits from strong products or overly aggressive routines, so everything is adjusted based on what your scalp seems able to comfortably handle and respond well to.
-
your hair doesn’t need to be freshly washed the same day, but for scalp-focused appointments, I usually recommend coming within a day or two after washing if possible. this helps me get a more accurate picture of how your scalp typically looks and acts rather than mostly seeing buildup from extended time between washes.
-
that really depends on your scalp, your goals, and how your scalp responds over time. some people come in occasionally for support and relaxation, while others benefit from more consistent care during periods of shedding, irritation, stress, imbalance, or recovery. we’ll always talk through what feels realistic for you personally rather than following a strict schedule.
color services
-
not at all. inspiration photos, general goals, lifestyle preferences, and even knowing what you don’t want can all help guide the process. the goal is always to create color that works not just for the day you leave the salon, but for how you realistically want to maintain it over time.
-
freshly washed hair within the last day or two is usually best. excessive buildup, heavy dry shampoo, pool chemicals, oils, or a lot of product sitting on the hair can sometimes affect how color performs during the appointment. for blonding or lightening services especially, clean hair often lifts more evenly, more true to tone, and can help the process go more smoothly overall. but if life happens and you’ve been putting off washing a little longer than usual before your appointment, don’t stress. you’re not going to be judged for it. after all, the wash is the best part of the service.
-
that’s actually one of the main approaches I specialize in. placement, blending, tone, and how your color grows out over time all play a role in creating hair that feels softer, more natural, and easier to maintain between appointments without feeling overly “done.”
-
lived-in color focuses on softer grow-out, strategic placement, and creating dimension that works with your natural hair over time rather than looking freshly done for only a few weeks. what that actually looks like can vary from person to person. someone who only wants to come in once or twice a year may be approached very differently than someone who still enjoys coming in every couple of months but wants a softer, more blended grow-out between appointments.
-
that’s completely okay. not everyone wants the same maintenance routine, and color is always approached based on what feels right for your goals. while I do specialize in softer grow-out and more flexible color approaches, I still offer traditional highlighting and regular maintenance appointments for clients who enjoy coming in more consistently. if you’re unsure whether your goals are the right fit, consultation forms and conversations beforehand help us figure that out together so you don’t have to stress about booking perfectly.
-
each service has an estimated timing listed during booking, but timing can still vary depending on your hair history, density, goals, and the amount of work needed during the appointment. if I ever feel like more time may be needed than what was originally booked, I’ll always reach out beforehand so we can make adjustments ahead of time rather than feeling rushed the day of.
extensions + integration
-
I currently offer weft extensions, mesh integration, and meshless integration systems depending on your goals, hair density, scalp comfort, and the kind of support you’re looking for. not everyone needs the same type of coverage, fullness, or structure, which is why every install is approached differently rather than trying to force everyone into the same method or outcome. even with traditional weft extensions, placement and weight distribution are customized carefully because some hair types and finer areas need more flexibility and support than a standard install approach typically allows. the goal is always for your extensions to feel comfortable, natural, and supportive of your hair rather than something you constantly have to fight with or worry about.
-
sometimes, yes. traditional extension methods aren’t always the right fit for thinner or more fragile hair, which is why integration systems can be such an important option for people who thought they had no safe or realistic solutions available to them. every situation is different, but the goal is always to work with your natural hair and scalp as safely and intentionally as possible rather than forcing your hair to handle something it can’t comfortably support. if there’s a safe and realistic path forward, we’ll figure out the solution together.
-
you don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out. some people come in wanting more fullness or length, while others are navigating thinning, coverage concerns, or changes in their hair that no longer feel like “them.” consultations help us talk through what’s realistically possible, what feels comfortable, and what kind of support would make the biggest difference for you long-term.
-
integration systems are designed to work with your natural hair to help add fullness, coverage, or support in a way that feels more secure and natural than many people expect. a lot of people have actually never heard of them before coming here. mesh integration is usually a better fit when more structure or support is needed, especially for more advanced thinning, while meshless integration offers a lighter and more flexible option for fullness and everyday wear. the right fit depends on your hair, scalp, lifestyle, and what would feel most comfortable long-term.
-
when extensions and integration systems are approached intentionally, the goal is to support your natural hair rather than fight against it. placement, tension, weight, maintenance, and scalp comfort all matter, which is why everything is customized based on what your hair can realistically handle long-term rather than simply adding as much hair as possible. I also take continuing education and scalp health very seriously so every precaution is taken to create the safest and most supportive experience possible for your natural hair and scalp over time.
-
I currently use SalonXtension Elite hair for extension and integration services because, so far, it’s been the line I’ve found performs the best long-term in both quality and comfort. I’m always open to learning about and testing better options as the industry evolves, but their hair has consistently lasted significantly longer than most lines I’ve worked with when cared for properly. their wefts are also made with more hair per square inch than many traditional extension lines, which helps create fuller results with less bulk, less excessive layering, and more even weight distribution overall. especially for long-term wear, comfort and how the hair actually lives day-to-day matters just as much as how it looks the day it’s installed.
-
pricing can vary quite a bit depending on your goals, the amount of hair needed, customization, maintenance, and the type of system being used. I know investing in your hair can feel like a big decision, especially when you’re already navigating frustration, thinning, or uncertainty around what will actually work long-term. consultations are required before moving forward so we can talk everything through together, answer questions, and figure out what feels realistic for your hair, lifestyle, and comfort level before making any big decisions.
a few things to know before your appointment
-
life happens sometimes, so if you’re running behind, just let me know as soon as you can. because appointments are timed intentionally, arriving too late may sometimes mean we need to adjust part of the service or reschedule to another day, but we’ll always talk through the best option together rather than trying to force a rushed or stressful appointment.
additional appointment policies can also be found here if needed.
-
if something doesn’t feel quite right after your appointment, please don’t sit at home stressing over it or feeling awkward about reaching out. I always want you to feel comfortable saying something so we can talk through it together and figure out the best next step. I just ask that any concerns be brought to my attention within seven days of your appointment.
additional details can always be found on the policies page if needed.
